January 2023

Dear Prayer friends,
Welcome to the new year! We've had a wonderful start, with loads of new and
old faces ready to learn more about Jesus. We had our second Dial-A-Donut
outreach event this month, and though less successful than before, we are still
going on in strength! We know that God is moving through our campus, even if
it is just through us flyering.
This week is the beginning of our annual Events Week. All week, we have
various talks and seminars on our main campus, and it is our biggestoutreach event of the year. For the first time in three years (or what feels like
forever!) we are finally able to have a huge white marquee in the middle of our
campus! This is such a blessing from God as it means we are so much more
visible to people on campus, instead of hiding out in a room in the RUSU
building. The marquee does come with some of its own challenges, such as the
cost and upkeep of it, as well as making sure that all our equipment is safe
overnight.
So, how does Events Week work? This year, we're looking at "What's my
purpose?" which is a great conversation starter, and something we're so
excited to chat about with other students on campus. We start the day off
with Prayer Breakfast, then a lunch talk, an international talk in the early
afternoon and one in the evening usually accompanied by games and food!
It's a wonderful opportunity for us to reach out to the hearts on campus
and spread the light and love Jesus to everyone. Every morning, I'll do my
best to send out a short letter detailing what's happening that day and any
testimonials!
Overall, please do pray for all of us at Reading CU this week. It's a long week, and
very busy. We're all students alongside this, and we would really appreciate your
prayers for strength and perseverance, our safety and Jesus' love and
wisdom to run through all of us. At the bottom of the email is our weekly
timetable for those who are interested!
As always, thank you for your support and your prayers! Knowing we're not
alone in this is a comfort. Please keep praying for our confidence to talk to
our friends, classmates, housemates and those who are on our hearts to bring
to Jesus. Please keep the people we meet this week in your prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Ruta at RUCU
