Dear Prayer Friend,
Term is fully in swing! Fresher's week went so well for us, we had lots of people
coming and chatting to those working the Welcome Tent, and our first few
CU meetings on a Thursday evening have been full, which is so exciting!
As we continue with the term, we are continuing to run our weekly Bible study
groups (Impact Groups), as well as our Central's on Thursdays, and our
International event, Small World Cafe, on Fridays. Please keep these events in
your prayers, that conversations are f ruitful and people are encouraged
to come.
Our mission is to make the love and truth of Jesus known on campus, and a
great way of doing that is through different events on campus. However, these
can be quite expensive, and as a CU we do rely on donations to help us keep
running them. For Events Week in February we have a large marquee which issuch a blessing in helping us spread the Gospel, however this does take out
quite a large sum from our finances.
Events Week is so important for us, and it is an amazing way of seeing how
God's word can impact people for years after they meet us. A few years ago,
someone came to a talk at the Events Week and was so impacted by the
speaker she listened to, she spent the next four years searching for the CU,
wanting to continue having those conversations with the only person who had
wanted to make her learn more about Jesus. This year, she approached us at
the Fresher's Fayre with this story and has now been put in contact with that
speaker - it is so amazing to hear how Events Week can touch people's
hearts! Our target for this year's Events Week is £4000, and we're currently at
£3000. We would really appreciate your prayers in God's provision, and helping
us to continue putting our trust in Him. Additionally, if it is on your heart and you
feel able to support us financially in any way personally, our bank details are
also at the bottom of the email and we are extremely grateful for any
donations. But more than anything, please do pray and see how God might be
encouraging you to support us!
As always, we are so grateful for all your prayers and support! It is such a
comfort knowing that there are people praying for us and God's work here at
Reading.
Yours in Christ,
Rūta at RUCU
