And just like that, another year at RUCU is over! We’ve had an amazing year here in Reading, with lots of things going on. From our weekly meetings to a getaway during the Easter break, as well as a leavers picnic and prayer and praise night. It’s certainly been a busy term alongside exams, but God has guided us through and is preparing us for the next chapter.
Our weekly Central meetings focused on the theme ‘servant heart’. We spent time looking at different examples of servant hearts being demonstrated throughout the Bible. Some of the topics we looked at ranged from ‘love God, love others’, ‘Jesus as the servant’ and ‘resting in God’ to name a few! Lots of great conversations and discussions came up each week, and we found this theme to be a great success. We hope that this has resonated with students, whether they came to one session or all of them, and that God will equip them with the same servant hearts that Jesus demonstrated to us.
We had a getaway as CU in the Easter holidays which was also a great success! A group of us went down to Frinton-on-Sea and spent time in fellowship, as well as going on walks, nights by the campfire, and not forgetting the karaoke too! It was a very blessed week and a time to get to know one another better.
As with all summer terms, RUCU had to say goodbye to our leavers, and we did lots of things to wish them all the best in their new chapters. We hosted a leavers picnic on campus, which had a large attendance, lots of ball games and lots of food! It was a truly special time, and we were very blessed with the weather.
Our final Central of the term was our prayer and praise night. From worshipping God through songs and prayer stations, we were able to reflect on the year that we have spent here in Reading, as well as praying for the leavers and sending them out in the full reassurance that God is in control of all things!
Thank you to you all for your support and prayers for us as a CU over this past year. God hears each one of our prayers and we are so grateful for them! We’re off for the summer holidays, but we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new academic year, and to welcome in a whole new load of freshers in September!
Yours in Christ,
Cristina at RUCU
